Description

A stunning example of the first ever mass-produced English banknote. These notes were printed at the outbreak of the Great War in August 1914 in response to the Government’s need to restrict the supply of gold and to prevent hoarding of the half and full Sovereigns.

A crisp example, with sharp corners and just a single light centre fold.
